48a. Pension transfer – simple and automatic
Foreign retirees continue to receive their pension into their home country bank account. The only step required is to instruct that bank to set up a regular transfer: each month, the pension is automatically forwarded to the retirees Turkish bank account. No special procedure or official permit is needed. As long as funds arrive through legal channels, there are no restrictions.
48b. Healthcare – two options
State hospitals (SGK): By paying a monthly SGK (Social Security Institution) premium of approximately 20-30, foreign retirees can access all state hospitals in Turkey completely free of charge. This premium can be set up as an automatic bank transfer directly to SGK. In return, consultations, surgery, and medication are all covered.
Private health insurance: Private hospital quality in Turkey is high, and prices are very reasonable compared to Europe. If you are not enrolled in the SGK system, private health insurance is mandatory for a residence permit application.

For a retired couple, 2,000 per month is enough for a comfortable life in Alanya. This covers rent, food, transport, healthcare, and day-to-day expenses. For a more luxurious lifestyle or frequent travel, budget above this figure accordingly.
